In his exhibition "Quiet Times", conceived for WTF Gallery Bangkok, Kay Walkowiak refers to this particular situation we are facing right now and presents two new cinematic works that address in different ways how to deal with the current pandemic.
Both films thus address in different ways questions about profoundly human needs of physical closeness but also distance, the desire for community and at the same time also for individual life design. It is likely that the current crisis will pass, but we will certainly not escape further crises as long as we do not pause and learn to create new ways of living together that allow each person as much self-determination as possible without harming the community as a whole through selfish acting.
The exhibition is co-hosted by the Austrian Embassy Bangkok.
ในนิทรรศการ "Quiet Times" ซึ่งจัดขึ้นที่ WTF Gallery Bangkok ศิลปินได้อ้างอิงสถานการณ์ที่เรากำลังเผชิญอยู่ในขณะนี้และนำเสนอผ่านผลงานภาพยนตร์ใหม่ 2 ชิ้นที่กล่าวถึงวิธีจัดการกับโรคระบาดในปัจจุบันในรูปแบบต่างๆ
ภาพยนตร์ทั้งสองเรื่องนี้ไม่เพียงแค่นำเสนอแง่มุมที่แตกต่างกันของความต้องการสัมผัสใกล้ชิดทางกายของมนุษย์อย่างลึกซึ้ง และ ระยะห่าง ความปรารถนาในการอยู่ร่วมกันในสังคม และ ชีวิตส่วนบุคคล แม้จะมีแนวโน้มว่าวิกฤตในปัจจุบันจะผ่านไป แต่เราจะไม่รอดจากวิกฤติครั้งต่อไปแน่นอน ตราบใดที่เราไม่หยุดเพื่อที่จะเรียนรู้ที่จะสร้างวิถีชีวิตร่วมกันในรูปแบบใหม่ซึ่งช่วยให้แต่ละคนมีความมุ่งมั่นในตนเองมากที่สุดโดยไม่เป็นอันตรายต่อชุมชนผ่านการกระทำที่เห็นแก่ตัว

Kay Walkowiak (*1980) is a visual artist and film maker based in Vienna. He is working with different media, ranging from video and photography to spatial installations with objects. Most of his inspiration derives from Asian cultures, in particular its rich history of art, architecture and philosophy.
